Modules in Path Finder (Preview, Terminal, Info, Attributes, etc.) have their own settings that you adjust directly inside each module. These options are separate from the main Settings window.
Where to find module settings
Most modules expose their settings in one of these ways:
A gear icon (⚙️) inside the module
A right-click menu inside the module area
A small menu button in the module’s header
If you need to change how a module behaves or what it shows, start by:
Making sure the module is visible (via Window > Modules).
Looking for a gear icon or right-clicking inside the module.
Examples of module-specific settings
Different modules have different options. Some typical examples:
Preview module
Default zoom level
Background or display mode
How previews update when you change selection
Terminal module
Default shell (for example, Bash or Zsh)
Font size and appearance
Scrollback / history behavior
Info / Get Info / Attributes modules
Which metadata fields are visible
Whether certain sections are collapsed or expanded by default
Other modules may offer options like filters, refresh intervals, or extra display columns.
Global features vs per-module settings
It is important to distinguish:
Settings > Features (global): Enable or disable features like Terminal, Git integration, cloud services, etc.
Module settings (per-module): Control how each module looks and behaves once it is enabled.
If a module is missing entirely, check Settings > Features or Window > Modules.
If the module is visible but not behaving how you want, check its own settings (gear icon / right-click).
Resetting module behavior
If you want to get back to a clean state:
Close the module and reopen it via Window > Modules.
Look in the module’s own menu for any option to reset, clear, or restore defaults (if available).
Per-module settings give you fine-grained control so each panel shows exactly what matters to you.
