Tabs let you keep multiple locations open in a single Path Finder window, similar to a web browser. Tab Presets (tab sets) let you save your favorite tab layouts and reload them any time.
Open and manage tabs
Open a new tab:
Click the “+” button in the tab bar, or
Use the relevant keyboard shortcut (for example Command + T, depending on your configuration).
Switch between tabs:
Click on the tab you want,
or use Control + Tab to cycle through open tabs (if enabled in your shortcuts).
Close a tab:
Click the “x” on the tab, or
Use the close-tab shortcut (for example Command + W, depending on your settings).
Use tabs to organize your work
Common ways to use tabs:
One tab for Downloads, another for a project folder
Separate tabs for work, personal, and archive folders
Multiple tabs pointing to different parts of the same project tree
You can reorder tabs by dragging them left or right in the tab bar.
Save a Tab Preset (Tab Set)
Tab Presets let you take your current set of tabs and save them as a reusable workspace.
To save your current tabs as a preset:
Arrange your tabs the way you like (folders, locations, etc.).
In the menu bar, go to File > Tabs > Save Set.
Enter a name for the tab set (for example, “Work Projects” or “Photo Editing”).
Confirm to save.
Path Finder will remember the folders and layout of those tabs.
Load a Tab Preset
To reopen a previously saved tab set:
In the menu bar, go to File > Tabs > Load Set.
Select the tab set name you want to load.
Path Finder will open the tabs as they were when you saved the preset, giving you a ready-made workspace in one step.
Using tabs and tab presets is a simple way to keep different projects or contexts separated, while still being able to jump between them with just a click.
