Path Finder includes tools for compressing files into archives and extracting them, so you don’t need separate archive apps for basic tasks.
Compress files and folders
To create an archive:
Select the files or folders you want to compress.
Right-click on the selection.
Choose Compress (or equivalent).
Pick the desired format if options are offered (e.g. ZIP, TAR, GZIP, etc.).
Name your archive and choose where to save it.
You’ll get a single archive file containing all selected items.
Extract archives
To extract:
Double-click an archive file to extract it to a default or nearby location, or
Right-click the archive and choose Extract To… to specify a destination folder.
Path Finder supports common archive formats so you can send and receive compressed files easily.
Why use archives?
Archiving is useful for:
Storage – Reduce disk usage by compressing large folders
Sharing – Bundle multiple files into one package for email or upload
Compatibility – Use standard formats like ZIP that work across macOS, Windows, and Linux
These Utilities & Tools give you extra power directly inside Path Finder, so tasks like editing text, monitoring processes, syncing folders, merging structures, and handling archives can all stay in one workflow.
