Text Editor

Path Finder includes a built-in Text Editor so you can quickly edit text files without leaving the app.

Open a file in the Text Editor

1. In Path Finder, navigate to the text file you want to edit.

2. Double-click the file, or

3. Right-click and choose Open With > Text Editor (wording may vary by version).

The file will open in Path Finder’s integrated Text Editor instead of switching to another app.

Key features

The Text Editor typically supports:

• Syntax highlighting for many programming languages

• Line numbers for easier navigation in code or long files

• Find and Replace to quickly update content

• Encoding options so you can select or preserve the right text encoding

When to use the Text Editor

Use the built-in editor when you want to:

• Make quick edits to scripts, config files, or notes

• Inspect or tweak logs without opening another app

• Stay inside Path Finder while doing light coding or text work

For heavy editing, you can still open files in your dedicated editor, but for quick changes, the built-in Text Editor is often faster.
