The Info Panel (or Info module) shows detailed information about the selected file or folder, including size, type, dates, metadata, and more. It’s like a built-in “Get Info” that you can keep open all the time.
Open the Info Panel
Open Path Finder.
In the menu bar, go to Window > Modules > Info.
The Info module will appear attached to the window.
Now, whenever you select an item in the browser, the Info Panel updates automatically.
Note: There is also a separate Get Info window you can open with Command + I, which shows similar details in a standalone window.
What the Info Panel shows
Depending on the file type, the Info Panel typically includes:
General
Kind (file type)
Size
Location (path)
Created and Modified dates
Number of items (for folders)
More Info / Metadata
Dimensions (for images)
Duration (for audio/video)
Other metadata that macOS exposes
Comments
A field where you can add your own comments/notes (if supported).
Some setups also show tags, Spotlight comments, or other extended attributes.
Why keep the Info Panel open
The Info Panel is useful when you:
Browse a folder and want instant context about each file as you arrow through them
Compare sizes and dates without constantly opening Get Info dialogs
Add or view comments on important files
Quickly see exactly where a file is located on disk
You can dock the Info Panel on whichever side of the window works best and combine it with other modules (Preview, Attributes, etc.) for a rich, always-available overview.
The Info Panel helps you understand your files at a glance, without repeatedly opening and closing separate info windows.
