Path Finder can be used on more than one Mac, but the rules are slightly different for perpetual licenses and subscriptions.
You can always see your current status in Path Finder > Registration in the menu bar.
License key
A license key (one-time purchase) comes with:
3 activations per license
You cannot purchase extra activations for the same license
Typical use cases:
1 user, up to 3 Macs (for example: desktop, laptop, work Mac)
Or 3 individual machines using the same license
To use your license on a new Mac:
Install and launch Path Finder.
Go to Path Finder > Registration.
Enter your license key in the License section.
Click Activate.
If you’ve already used all 3 activations, you must:
Deactivate Path Finder on a Mac you no longer use
Open Path Finder > Registration on that Mac and sign out/deactivate
Or purchase an additional license if you need more than 3 active machines at the same time.
Subscription (email-based)
A subscription is tied to your email address, not a license key.
Your subscription includes 2 activations.
You can add or remove activations in your subscription dashboard (billing/subscription portal).
To activate Path Finder on a Mac with a subscription:
Install and launch Path Finder.
Go to Path Finder > Registration.
In the Subscription / Account area, click Sign In.
Sign in with the same email you use for your subscription.
If you need more Macs under the same subscription, open your subscription dashboard and increase the number of seats/activations there. Path Finder will respect what’s configured in that dashboard.
Check your current activation status
You can see what is active at any time:
Open Path Finder > Registration
Trial information
License key status and usage (perpetual)
Subscription status (email and active seats)
If you still have questions or get an error about too many activations, contact support and include:
The email tied to your subscription (if applicable)
Your license key (if using a perpetual license)
A screenshot of Path Finder > Registration showing the issue.
