I have created text file from PathFinder File-New File - New text file and use this file to write my notes during interviews all the day.
After i have finished i closed the file (letters were in Russian there) and next time I open the file all letters become corrupted and I have no idea how to recover my data!!!!
I have tried to do the same with some test files with one word and always have the same result - data in Russian is corrupted after I close the file!!!!!
What is that? How can I recover my data???? I have tried different methods and programs (like Shtirlitz) but no way....
HELP!!!!!

It looks like a problem with character encoding.

Do you know which encoding is required for your Russian? If we can figure out which encoding the file was saved in, and which encoding it needs to be translated to, it should be possible to recover the file.

I've been experimenting with this tool:
    http://newyork.mashke.org/Conv/

Does the following text have any meaning to you?

    Np rигuБu егyижиrжЙ едгКt{p 15 Бu|дru{ rд s|pru и егutиutpu|u} егpr|u~yК
    (Kp||pжг Ppru| B|pty}yгдryБ)

    Hi Michael,

i've tested a lot, spent few hours - nothing happens, i can't read original file anyway.
I can give you an example: just type the following word into the new file created with PathFinder "test = проверка" and close it.
You will see that you will not be able to read the original message.
Here's the picture of the russian letter for the test phrase:

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards,
    Vitaly Vereshchagin.

I just tried what you told and I don't see any problem (or I don't really understand what the issue is). Please look at the attached video.

Would it be possible to send us (attach) here that corrupted file, so we can investigate it?

    Hi,

i see that when you copy-paste it works fine... the same with me.
BUT if you try to create new file and type something in Russian, then close file - then you will loose all your data.
Can you add Russian layout for the keyboard and try to type something?

    Regards,
    Vitaly.

Vitaly, I haven't received any response, nor the corrupted file. I'll close this, re-open if the issue is still present and send that corrupted file.
