Feature Request - DIY Arbitrary Placement of Icons

In Finder I repeatedly use parallel columns of icons but with some missing in the columns. For example not all source files have a matching include files, or test files have matching results files. I can construct the columns by hand by fiddling with sorted icons. PF dynamically places the icons so my manual placement of such sporadic structures is not possible. My request is for some form of static memory of icon positions. I would like a partially filled grid structure rather than completely arbitrary positions.

If I drop a file on such a folder the finder botches things. On other occasions it has a mind of its own. As they say - FTFF!

Manual arrangement of icons in Icon View is planned. Since this forum is for support only, you can cast your suggestions there since they're actually easier to spot and be reviewed by the devs.
