After an install of an Adobe Elements program, one of three versions existing, all of those became missing from my Applications folder on both PF 5 and PF 6 although they exist and launch from Lion Finder.

Path Finder just reads the system Applications folder, doesn't make up its own.
Please, post some screenshots of Finder VS Path Finder, it will help us sort it out.

Here is a screenshot of my Finder window listing Adobe Elements apps and of Path Finder 6 without it listed and unable to be launched. PF5 exhibits the same behavior.

In Finder you see folders along with files, alphabetically. In Path Finder, you have a feature called Smart Sorting (set in Preferences), which can sort files, then folders, then packages, etc.
Just turn off Smart Sorting in Path Finder's View menu or scroll up/down to find your Adobe folders.
