hiding file icons

If I remember correctly, when I was using PF 5, I was able to hide the icons for the individual files, and so just show the file name's text. Does this option still exist in PF 6?

No, it was removed, not sure why. Now icons are mandatory but you can show/hide filenames. In List View, for example, icons with no filenames don't make much sense.

    i use pathfinder within a vpn-network.
i tested the file browsing with other browsers like the muCommander and found out that it works much faster (3times faster) than the browsing with pathfinder 6.
I know pathfinder is much more complex but could it be that the small file-icons cause a longer loading time of folder contents?
If so wouldn't it be nice if one could switch the appearance of the icons on and off?
    thank you.
