PF6 appears not to find tagged files on mounted disk images.

I've added this to our bug tracker for the developers to review.

This is actually related to Spotlight. In order to find files by tags (or rating, or contents,...) Spotlight has to index a disk. Spotlight doesn't automatically index mounted disk images, therefore you can find tagged files on it.

You can confirm this yourself: mount a disk image (let's say it's mounted at /Volumes/MyDisk) and execute this in the terminal:

    mdutil /Volumes/MyDisk -s

    You'll get something like:

    /Volumes/MyDisk: Indexing disabled.

You can force Spotlight to index this disk with:

    mdutil /Volumes/MyDisk -i on

    and the response will be:

    /Volumes/MyDisk: Indexing enabled.

From then on, you'll be able to search for tagged (or rated) files on that disk.

If the mounted disk image is writable, you need to force indexing only once. However, if the disk image is read only (or compressed), you have to force its indexing every time you mount it.
