Path Finder eats shift-opt-cmd-delete Finder shortcut to empty trash w/o confirm?

Subject line says it all. Any reason Path Finder needs to swallow this one? Would it have to be added to Path Finder menus and get its own keyboard shortcut to work?

It's a nuisance to have to switch to the Finder to use this command.

Thanks,

Jason

    Hi Jason,

In Path Finder you are able to set your own shortcuts for all the menu commands.
All you need to do is to go to Path Finder > Preferences and in the Features tab choose Keyboard.
Then select a menu item and hit a command key sequence to modify.

For more detailed information on setting shortcuts, please take a look at the following article:

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

Thanks, Julia. I do understand that, but as far as I can tell, Pathfinder has no menu command for "empty trash immediately without a confirmation dialog". In this case, this is already a shortcut provided by the Finder. But if Pathfinder is the active app, it simply rings the error bell.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,

    Jason

Surely. I think you’ll be able to reproduce it quite easily by:

    1. Move something to the Trash

    2. With Finder as the current app, press cmd-shift-opt-delete

    3. Finder will empty trash immediately with no confirm

    4. Again move something to Trash

    5. With Pathfinder as the current app, press cmd-shift-opt-delete

    6. PF will beep and Trash will not empty. Expect result as in step 3.

    I’m running PF 7.1.2 (1676) on OS 10.9.5.

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

    Thank you for the screenshots.

Please, try to do the following:

    Go to PathFinder Preferences-> Features->Keyboard->PathFinder->Trash.
Click on the Empty Trash and press cmd-shift-opt-delete.
    The command should change.
Close Preferences and try to empty the trash.

Let me know how it goes.

The command does change, but it doesn’t work properly.

cmd-shift-delete is the Finder shortcut for empty trash WITH a confirmation

cmd-shift-opt-delete is the Finder shortcut for empty trash WITHOUT a confirmation

When I change the shortcut as you suggest above, PathFinder still brings up the confirmation dialog.

    Make sense?

Have you had a chance to try the steps to repro that I sent above?

    Thanks,

    Jason
