Current directory in Terminal drawer

I remember that in the past, you could open the Terminal drawer, and automatically cd to the current directory. From the posts I've read in this forum, it seems that this functionality has been since removed. Back in 2018, the official answer was: "We've already submitted it to our developers". We're now in 2021, and still nothing.

What's holding back the developers from reintroducing a function that doesn't look that hard to implement?
