PF10 slowness after and while copying large files to NAS

I'm using PF 10.0.1(2084) on both intel mac and apple silicon mac.
After starting PF10 and using a while, PF10 becomes slower and slower, and it takes several seconds or several tens of seconds to perform any operation.

I would like to provide the information needed for analysis, what do you need?

After copying large files to NAS, PF10 always becomes slower.

I ended up downgrading to PF9.
It runs much more stably on Big Sur than PF10.
Even after copying a lot of files to the NAS, it never slows down. That's no surprise...

Since I paid for the upgrade, I am hoping that future updates will make PF10 run more stable.
I also hope that more decent support will be provided for paid users.

I have the same problem with PF10 on Big Sur. After copying a lot of files across the network, I'll see it become sluggish and never recover—becoming slower and slower until I either have to quit and restart, or if I am too late, kill the unresponsive process entirely and start again.

Furthermore, I'll actually see the slowdown WHILE copying—with PF sometimes becoming completely unresponsive during the copy operation and only being responsive again after the operation is complete (sometimes for as long as a full minute or more!). I'll also see in Activity Monitor that PF is taking up more and more CPU, Memory, and Energy.

PF9 never had this problem. I am reluctant to downgrade, though, so I really hope this bug gets fixed quickly!

I'm actually seeing something else now... my MacBook Pro is freezing, crashing, and rebooting on its own once or twice a day. I can't say for sure whether it's due to PF10 or something else, but I haven't seen this before I upgraded...

    Hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for reporting this! In order for us to investigate the following occurrence, please send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file. This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application.

    Here's how to get it:
    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem. If the problem is dynamic (e.g. unexpected action result), please try reproducing it during the sample collection.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Best Regards,
    Mary

    Hi Mary,

Attached is a Sample Process file. At the time it was collected, I had been doing virtually nothing with my computer for a while, and yet PF is at 67% CPU, 738MB RAM, and 83.7 Energy Impact! (No wonder my fans are blowing like crazy without me even doing any activity).

    I hope the attachment helps...

    Thank you
    Paul

(Just an update.... After uploading this, I quit PF10 and within a minute or so, the fans stopped and everything is silent again. I'm almost afraid to start up PF10 again!)

I really hope this can be addressed soon, because I've gone back to using Apple Finder in the meantime, because my laptop kept running hot and I had to keep shutting PF10 down.

    Hi,

Attached is a Sample Process file, as requested. At the time it was collected, I had been doing virtually nothing with my computer for a while, and yet PF10 was at 67% CPU, 738MB RAM, and 83.7 Energy Impact! (No wonder my fans are blowing like crazy without me even doing any activity).

(After taking this sample, I quit PF10 and within a minute or so, the fans stopped and everything was silent again.

I really hope this can be addressed soon, because I’m afraid to restart PF10 being that it’s been overheating and crashing my laptop, and so I've gone back to using Apple Finder in the meantime—and really miss PF10.

    Thanks,
    Paul

PF9 does run really nicely on Big Sur. A lot better than it did for Mojave, what I was using before this week.

Here’s another sample process taken while two copy processes were going on, in case that helps
