Can't see comments

I have searched previous discussions and haven't found an answer. I did find some people with similar issues, but no

In Finder I have been adding comments - in the Get Info window.

I do not see it in the Pathfinder "Get Info" window. PathFinder shows blank for comments under Attributes - Spotlight comments. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Path Finder: Version 9.3.5 (2054) (via Setapp)

    macOS Catalina: 10.15.5 (19F101)

Here is an example of what I see in finder vs path finder.

    Hi Lesroy,

Quite an odd behavior, to be honest!

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application.

    Here's how to get it:
    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem. If the problem is dynamic, please try reproducing it during the sample collection.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Best Regards,

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay in responding.  I've had to do a clean install of my system (beach balling etc.), unfortunately it didn't help with this issue either.
I think there is something strange about the jpegs that are exhibiting this problem.  I thought I'd try to enter some comments via Path Finder.  I then get a popup "Authenticated Set Attributes" asking for my computer user name and password.  Looking at file permissions it looks normal.  I have read and write, and everyone else has read only.  But it also says "you have custom access".  Other files that I test with, that don't have problems showing tags or comments in Path Finder say "you can read and write".
After I entered my password in the authenticated set attributes pop-up, it then came up with another pop-up (Path Finder is trying to install a new helper tool.). After I entered my password it then told me that "spotlight comments cannot be changed for item.  Operation not permitted"
Do you still need the "sample process" file?

    Hi Lesroy,

    I appreciate the update!

Before you generate the sample, make sure to check your Full Disk Access rights given to Path Finder in the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy. Then, reboot your computer.

If after the following actions your issue persists, make sure to generate and forward us the sample file requested previously.

Please feel free to write us back, and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,
    Mary
