Dropbox/PathFinder bug

I do not like Dropbox's desktop application, and so I set the preferences to open my Dropbox folder in the finder. The problem is that if I click the Dropbox icon in the sidebar of the PathFinder window, it tries to launch the Dropbox desktop app, and then just gives me the desktop instead.

I can look at the Dropbox file from the MacOS finder, but not from PathFinder. I realize that this might be a problem that DropBox needs to fix, but I wanted to see if you're aware of the problem. My normal workflow is disrupted by what seems like a small issue, but it's so incredibly frustrating that if I can't find a solution or workaround, I may switch to sync.com and leave Dropbox entirely.

In case there is an obvious fix I've missed, please point me to it and ignore my whinging.

Any help much appreciated.

    From the looks of it, it is a Dropbox bug, but to verify that, could you please reproduce the behavior you describe on a video and send it to us?

    Okay, I figured out how to record the screen but I can't attach the .mov to this message ("entity too large")

    One more thing: the Dropbox people say it's not a Dropbox bug. Of course they could be wrong.

    Trying again to get the video to upload.

    Error: 413 Request Entity Too Large

    Because it is bigger than 10MB, but I don't have a way to make it smaller.

    Could you please try closing Dropbox and then launching it via Pathfinder?

    I closed Dropbox and using the Pathfinder window tried to open it. Same behavior: it tries to open the desktop app and goes to the desktop instead.

    Can you please do the following things in your Path Finder and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Make sure you have updated your Path Finder to the latest version possible by navigating to Path Finder in the menu dock > click on Check for Updates. Update if needed.
    2. Close your Sidebar by clicking on X button next to it.
    3. Restart your computer and launch Path Finder.
    4. Launch Path Finder and restore Sidebar by clicking on the Window in the menu dock > Modules > drag-and-drop the Sidebar back to the left pane.
    5. Click on Home (house) button in the Bookmark > click on Open.
    6. Drag-and-drop Dropbox folder to your Sidebar. Try to launch it.
