FolderSync / Copy of large folder path finder complains about ._ files a lot

when I try to copy a folder from one external harddrive to another, or use FolderSync, path finder opens a dialogue complaining that a ._ File of the file to copy already exists in the new location. Even unchecking to sync invisible items in FolderSync does not help.

I copy a image Folder with a lot of images from an old harddrive to a new one. In the folder is image_12345.jpg :

Then the error message often is:
Error - File exists
Source: /Volumes/HarddriveOld/._image_12345.jpg
Target: /Volumes/HarddriveNew/._image_12345.jpg
Object: /Volumes/HarddriveOld/._image_12345.jpg

Both harddrives are ExtFAT format.

This does not happen on all files. But I have to skip through an annoying amount of dialogues to "jump over" this file I don't even want to copy.

I can set in settings -> file operations to automatically jump over those files, but if there would be a problem with a file other than a ._ file, I will now not notice that there is another problem when using Folder sync.

Kind regards

    Hi Sebastian,

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem. If the problem is dynamic (e.g. unexpected action result), please try reproducing it during the sample collection.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Path Finder Support Team
