Favorites won't stay put

I'm running Catalina, all software up to date, including Path Finder.

I've got like thirty years of folders on this computer (which I do back up, regularly). To make things more accessible I sort through and add crucial folders to my 'favorites' in the sidebar ... and then they just disappear one day or week or month later. This has happened multiple times and it's irritating, so I came here to check and it turns out that other people have a similar problem.

Is there a real fix for this? Other people seem to have given up, but for me this is a crucial feature.

My sidebar was very good for many months and now in last few days (not for the first time) got zapped. I increasingly use bookmarks bar as a alternate workaround and in passing the bookmark bar seems pretty rock solid. Multiple "Tab Sets" may also be a workable workaround for some. You will see down the posts minor assistance - you can apparentlysave (favourites) settings via prefs, ....

Your preferences are stored in the following items:
    /Library/Application Support/Path Finder/ (directory) /Users//Library/Preferences/com.cocoatech.PathFinder.plist (file) /Users//Library/Application Support/Path Finder (directory)

How can it be so difficult to create an export/import (or backup) preferences feature. You manage to do so much more difficult tasks.
I read somewhere that you don't want to support macos favorite anymore. Shall we use bookmarks instead? Because a finder without favorites doesn't do the trick!
If we should use bookmarks, than please
    - make a module of it. - make export / import feature for it.

    Hi,

Which version of macOS and Path Finder do you have installed?

Your preferences are stored in the following items:
    /Library/Application Support/Path Finder/ (directory)
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.cocoatech.PathFinder.plist (file)
    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Path Finder (directory)

You may backup those items in order to restore them later should any issues occur. However, you should NOT experience any issues retaining the Favorites. Losing them is definitely a bug.

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan

Sorry it took so long to come back to you.
Say I had higher priorities. Perhaps we all had.
I just found out what went wrong.
It seems, suddenly my sidebars have been protected and the header hidden.
Perhaps I tested the option myself some time ago and didn’t have any problems with it until I moved out the favorite shortcut.
And in the meantime completely forgot about this options.
The main concern I have, is that module settings don’t appear when header are hidden.
Based on UX i’d say the easiest way to avoid my difficulty would be to add a module setting entry in right click contextual menu.

Kind regards and many thanks: I wouldn’t like to miss the goodies that pathfinder offers.
