Nag Window Popup

Even though I've selected not to be notified about updates, I get the popup window at least once per day. This annoying aspect alone is just about enough to make me remove Pathfinder from my computer completely. Add to it that this update is a paid update for bug fixes and features I once had but were removed, and I'm about done with Pathfinder. I like its functionality, but the cons are starting to outweigh the pros.

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Which versions of Path Finder and macOS do you have installed? Could you please toggle "Automatically check for updates" and see if this helps?

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi,

    macOS verson 10.14.6
    Pathfinder version 8.6 (1977)

I've toggled the update box several times and have quit and restarted the
    app as well.

None of the toggles or suggested actions will work. I've been down this road many times before and Path Finder fails to provide an authentic fix. They are happy to harass their users with unwanted update reminders instead of providing an authentic fix.

Exactly the same problem, repeatedly nagged even with check for updates disabled.

    macOS version 10.14.5 (18F132)
    Pathfinder version 8.6 (1977)

It simply won't shut the heck up about 9.0.3.

    Hi Rob,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, we are looking into this.

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process of what happens during this issue in a separate file? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem. If the problem is dynamic (e.g. unexpected action result), please try reproducing it during the sample collection.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

Jordan, I don't know who this "Rob" person is that you're trying to
saddle with all your requests, but the situation is quite simple. Path
Finder continually hassles users with prompts to upgrade to PF9, even
though these update reminders have been turned off in Preferences, and by
clicking the appropriate options in the reminder itself. I have already
sent you appropriate documentation on this already.

    Hi Rob and everyone,

Could you please quit Path Finder 8, then type in the following command in terminal:
    defaults write com.cocoatech.PathFinder SUEnableAutomaticChecks NO

Confirm the command with enter, then restart Path Finder.

Please, let me know how it goes!

Does this apply to Pathfinder 7 if we're needing to revert to that due to
    PF8's bugs?

I shall ask again, Jordan: Does your Terminal fix apply to Pathfinder 7 if
we're needing to revert to that due to PF8's bugs?

I just tried it for PF7 and will let you know if it works. If it doesn't I'm ditching PF for good. Super annoying!

This Terminal fix has worked for me on PF7 for three days and several restarts of both PF and the machine, so I would say go for it! I haven't been nagged for three days now...halleluiah!

It's been holding for me too.

Why we have had to wait so long for a simple solution remains incomprehendable,
