Update Request Constant Harassment

Due to severe Memory Leaks that made 8.6 completely unusable, I was forced to revert to a previous buggy version. Despite General Preferences being set NOT to check for updates, and repeatedly clicking "skip this version" and unclicking the "automatically download and install updates in the future" in Pathfinder's Popup Window request, I am still being constantly harassed with Pathfinder's Popup request. I reported this before, but Pathfinder merely told me to do what I'd already done. No doubt, Pathfinder will tell me to update to solve the problem, but the severe Memory Leak makes this undoable.

I get periodic reminders, but I haven't found them to be intrusive. I am more bothered by the fact that version 7 continued to remind me that version 8.0 was available (I was not interested due to the shelf functionality being compromised), and failed to let me know that version 9 was available which seems to restore the desired action.

i also keep getting this alert everyday even I already disable the check for update and skip this version reminder.

    Hi Jonathan and Jiasen,

Which versions are you currently running? We offer a few older versions for download on our support page, if you'd like to stay on an older version I would suggest staying on 8.3.9 or 8.5.4.

As for memory leaks, could you please give us more details (e.g. how to reproduce)? Do these issues not appear in 8.3.1?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Path Finder Support Team

8.39 slows down to unusability, needing constant relaunching. 8.31
Crashes. As I already reported elsewhere, many of the links to older
    versions don't work.

I'm using 8.6. And everyday it will prompt me there is a 9.0.2 updates even I have already chosen to skip that version and disable check for updates... It still do so.

Yes, I'm on 8.6, I keep checking "skip this update" and it keeps reminding me of couple of days to upgrade to 9 which is "paid upgrade) (at least 5-10 times so far). I just happen to be in a financial rut at the moment and I can't do it right now - please stop bugging me about it

    Hey Peter,

Jordan finally provided the following on November 25th in response to
several other complaints for the same issue:

Could you please **quit Path Finder 8**, then type in the following command
    in terminal:

    `defaults write com.cocoatech.PathFinder SUEnableAutomaticChecks NO`

Confirm the command with enter, then restart Path Finder.

Jordan still seems to be ignoring my query though, about whether this fix
works for PF7 as well, since PF8 is so buggy.

Hope this helps. Beware of paying for PF9, which I understand to be no
better than PF8, despite the highly inappropriate paid upgrade that it is,
given how buggy PF8 has always been.

Hi, I totally agree with you about PF8.
Here is my personal opinion about the new version 9

In short: PF9 is doing great!

I am on the process of testing PF9 against each bug found on PF8 [which was horrible] and PF9 is performing great. Even the most implicit bug like "press and cancel 2 times Disk Image" which resulted on memory leak on PF8 and further imminent freeze on PF8: is solved on PF9.

PF version 9 is looking like the great old days of PF6 and PF7, at least until now, it is passing with success on my PathFinder bug-checklist verification.

I suggest you should give it a try on it, using PF9 Trial Version, before deciding to pay.

The developers seems to have [finally] done a great job on PF9!
