I am having the same problem as someone else reported a few days ago. I reported the same problem a while ago but didn't have a specific context that might cause it to be reproduced. Now it just happened again. I shifted my desktop to Pathfinder as I often do and the spinning ball was going over the window. I waited and it kept spinning. So rather than wait any longer I did a Force Quit from the dock and reopened Pathfinder. And there it was the default settings for my sidebar rather than all the preferred folders that I had had selected. This is the specific circumstances - a Force Quit after a spinning ball. By the way the directions for cleaning Pathfinder off the Mac don't include Pathfinder 8 - are there any different notes for this current version?

    Hi Byron,

    Thanks for reporting this!

May I ask you to follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
(The AppCleaner option is highly recommended, it's easier than erasing the directories manually)
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site

    3. Launch Path Finder and move it to the Apps folder as the app suggests

This should be only required once.

Your preferences are stored in the following items:
    /Library/Application Support/Path Finder/ (directory)
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.cocoatech.PathFinder.plist (file)
    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Path Finder (directory)

You may backup those items in order to restore them later should any issues occur.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,

    Path Finder Support Team
