Is there any information on a fix or has anyone got a workaround to prevent this from happening?

    Hi,

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem (try reproducing it after you started sampling).
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

Here is Path Finder Process Sample and some additional information.

The issue really starts when you open the Path Finder application, after about 5 to 10 seconds the application locks up the Mac for 3 to 5 minutes.

I was observing in the Console.app on what was happening on my Mac earlier today

I opened Path Finder at 11:50:48 at it started to hang
I was able to switch apps briefly at 11:52:57
Path Finder started behaving normally at 11:55:02

Is there any update for this issue? I reported it initially and am looking forward to a time when I can use the product again.

    Thank you.

I'm running into the same issue and am also hoping for a fix. I've tried the suggestions offered in other discussion threads here (clearing preferences, resetting NVRAM, wiping Path Finder files and reinstalling, etc.), and can only conclude this problem is in relation to my account's AD binding as well.

If it helps, I followed the steps above and have attached the resulting sample process as well, which was running while Path Finder was hanging. I have also noticed that if I lock my screen while PF is running and leave the screen locked for at least an hour or two before entering my AD password to unlock it, I often have to reset my network connection for the password to get authenticated at all. It seems strange, but this never happens if I quit PF before locking the screen.

Hoping for a resolution soon, thanks!

I found that during the time the Mac is frozen there are repeated failed requested to opendirectoryd:

11:52:19.743596 +0100 opendirectoryd Request 39325 active for excessive amount of time OSActivityID: 0x8000000000005cf1
    com.apple.message.domain: com.apple.opendirectoryd.longRequests

This can be seen in the Console under Mac Analytics Data

    Hi everyone!

No matter how hard I try to reproduce issues with Path Finder when running on a Mac bound to Active Directory, I haven't succeeded yet. Besides hangs, some users experience crashes as well when bound to AD.

We don't have access to any Window Server with AD. I tried creating similar environment running multiple virtual machines (one running Window Server 2008 R2 with various services configurations, others running bound Macs), but I haven't had any problems with Path Finder running in such configurations.

Hence, I'd like to ask if it would be possible for any of you having these issues to provide an access (with appropriate permissions) to the server you're bound to, so I can login and try to reproduce the issue that way? Because, trying to do so with different virtual machine configurations seems like a dead end.

Thank you in advance for eventual help with this.

    Dragan,

Thank you for your persistence in searching for a fix for this. I can't tell you how happy I am to know that I may be able to use PathFinder once again some day.

Unfortunately, I'm in a pickle when it comes to adding you to my network. I work at a very large university and don't have the liberty to do that. I am very hopeful one of the others might be able to help.

If there's anything else I can provide that might help, please continue to let me know.

I appreciate the efforts as well! I'm afraid I'm not in a situation to help out with server access either, however.

Sorry I was unable to help with the server access either. The thing is though, when I VPN in remotely Path Finder works fine.

That’s intriguing. I hope that provides a clue.

Guess I’ll have to work remotely. 路‍♂️

Does anyone know if PF9 still has this issue? I paid for 8 but couldn't use it. I don't want to make that mistake again.
