Hello!
I have a bug in PF 8.6 (1977). When I click on a .docx-file some editor of PF opens. MS Word doesn't start. All other clicks start the right app. For instance xlsx- and pdf-files are ok. I also tried the Mac Finder. It correctly starts Word by double click on a docx-file. What is wrong with PF?

    Hi Wilfried,

    Thanks for reaching out!

What do you see under Get Info -> Open With section in Path Finder? What is the document Kind? Does it work if you already have MS Office opened in the background?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan!

Under Get info > Open with I see „Microsoft Word“. The Document Kind is: Microsoft Word document (.docx)
It doesn’t work with Word opened in the background.

In Apples Activity Monitor Pathfinder appears and in the next line pkd

I hope these informations will help you.

    Best regards
    Wilfried

    Hi Wilfried,

If you open the context menu (Control + Click or Right-Click) -> Open With -> Word, will it open as expected?

    Looking forward to your reply.

This way is working, but double-clicking a docx-file still opens an editor.

    Hi Wilfried,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. In the Get Info -> Open with, could you please select another program to open such files, confirm it for all files, and the confirm back the MS Word?

Let me know how it goes!

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan!

Unfortunately this did not work. In Get Info > „Open with" I changed to open with Pages and confirmed all files. Then I tested the double click on a Word-file, but still it is opened in PF.
I also chose PF and confirmed all files, after this back to Word (also confirming all files). That did not work either.

    Best regards
    Wilfried

    Hi Wilfried,

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of PathFinder process in a separate file - this will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected. Ideally try to open the Word file as the sample is being collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan!

Here is the sample file. I started a Word document while the sample was created.
The data will hopefully help you.

    Best regards
    Wilfried
