There are a least a dozen support requests that mention Pathfinder's odd behavior when it comes to moving desktop icons. The responses are all very polite and frequently confirm that the development team has been made aware of the issue. While this may be true, the development team hasn't seen fit to tackle the issue over an extended time period that includes three or more updates. Support teams should make sure open tickets have been resolved BEFORE closing them. Ignoring the problem won't make it go away. You should fix this and stop pretending that the problem is a new one.

    Got to agree with that. My ticket concerning arranging desktop items is still open with no resolution is sight.
