Hello... Every time Path Finder is launched, I find that the sidebar has been reset - custom/dragged favourites lost, recent items & tags expanded, drop stack back again after being removed. Is it not writing the changes to the plist?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for reaching out!

Which versions of macOS and Path Finder do you have installed? Are you a regular or admin user?

Is Path Finder installed in the Applications folder?

In case you are using macOS Mojave, could you please make sure System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access was granted to Path Finder?

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Jordan

FYI, I am an admin om my computer, running OS 10.14.5 and PathFinder has full disk access. But on reboot, the default browser config show up, even though under File-->New Browser--> my saved config shows. Very annoying. On the good news front, at least so far this version doesn't hang my computer like 8.5 did.

    Hi Paul and Tino,

    Thanks for reporting this!

Which version of macOS do you have installed? If you had Path Finder 8.3.9 installed previously, did it happen on that version?

    Looking forward to your replies.

I have Mojave 10.14.5 installed. Previously I have Path Finder V 8.5.(0) installed. There was no problems with saving settings. Until installed V8.5.1 I lost settings of sidebar every restart Path Finder.

    Hi Paul,

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of PathFinder process in a separate file? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

Could you please see if backign up (copying to another folder) and restoring the following items restores the settings?:
/Users/your username here/Library/Preferences/com.cocoatech.PathFinder.plist (file)  /Users/your username here/Library/Application Support/Path Finder (directory and everything in it)

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hello Support,

I’ve nearly come to the end of my patience with PathFinder. The now-daily crashes cause so much havoc that only a reboot will fix things. If I quit PF and restart it I get a screen like the screen shot attached.

I’va also attached two crash episodes using Activity Monitor process sample.

I’ve removed all traces of PF and am going to try one last time to get it working.

I've tired of the constant crashes while just browsing with the application
I've completely uninstalled PF 8.5.4 (1969) and reinstalled it.
I'm hoping it will not crash hourly as it did.
    FYI I' on a MacBook Pro 13, 2017 2.5G i7 with 16GB ram

I really like the app but I really really need to be productive in my creativity and not in my frustrations.
Here's to giving it one more try.

I’m completely fed up. The crash data I am sending may not make sense, since when PF crashed, the whole computer seemed messed up. For example, I tried to restart PF and it show running, but no window opens and I cannot quit PF. Only a restart seems to restore normalcy. This is with PF 8.5.4

I will miss this app. If you ever get it working, I’d try again.

Can you try the new beta of PF, version 8.6b2 (1973)? You can update your current copy to it using build-in app updater and holding the alt/option key while checking for update. Or you can download it directly here.

    Installed and working
I assume, since it is a beta, that the many missing things are to be expected (e.g. modules, find, etc)
I’m fine with that (as long as it is expected) and will use it as normal until further notice.

    Thanks

    Hi Paul,

Would you please try updating to 8.6b4? If the issue appears again, Please send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file.

    Looking forward to your reply.
