iCloud Files Won't Open

Is there a way to be able to download iCloud files from PF 7 (or even from PF 8)? I can see the preview in PF, but depending on the file type they may or may not download by double clicking them. Word files first return an error message (see attached Word image), then at the same time apparently downloads the file, so the next time I double click it will open the Word file. PDF's behave differently - they return a different error message and nothing happens with the file. I then need to go to the file in Finder where it shows it is still in iCloud - from there I have to first download the file and then can access it in PF.

    Sorry for such a delayed reply!

    Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of PathFinder process in a separate file - this will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the sample!

    I've double-checked with our developers and this is the expected behavior. Unfortunately, the iCloud has a closed API and we are not able to provide all of the features that Finder offers due to their tight integration and the fact that we don't have any access to the API documentation. You may read more on iCloud compatibility here.

    In order to access these files, please download them to your Mac first. You may disable "Optimize Mac Storage" in order to keep all the files local.
