Quicklook is fine, but jpgs, pngs, and other graphics show in the preview pane as characters. Not consistently, but usually.

    Hi Steven,

Was it working well on Path Finder 8.3.9? Which version of macOS do you have installed?

Does this happen for random image files, or for certain ones?

    Looking forward to your reply!

It seems almost random. Yesterday perhaps PNGs more than JPGs; Photoshop files were more consistently working.

It occurred while I was browsing a folder of images in column view using the up and down arrow keys. Today I hardly see it at all. The only consistent problem, doing the same procedure with the arrow keys, if the previously selected file is a non-image file, the non-image preview will "stick" when I arrow to an image file. Moving to another image file works, as does moving back to the one that just displayed the faulty image.

    OS: 10.14.5 (18F203)
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018), 2.9 GHz Intel Core i9, 32 GB RAM
    Two external monitors

(I apologize for not originally including OS and machine info. I know better than that!)

    Best,
    Steve Alper

Missed a question: Yes, it seemed to be working fine in the previous version (although I was hardly ever running it since it was so prone to crashing for me).

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the delayed reply!

Could you send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file when this happens? This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application. Here's how to get it:

    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,

I am glad/sad to report that I am no longer able to reproduce this problem. It may have self-corrected after a restart following the initial installation.

    Best wishes,

    Hi, Path Finder team:

It has occurred again. In the attached screen shot, you can see that the selected file, John-intro.aac, is able to play in Quick View, but Path Finder's Preview is displaying the previously selected file, John-intro.xmp.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Steven,

Does this happen only with the preview column (optionally the last column in the column view can display a preview of a selected file), or with the preview module as well in other views?

    Looking forward to your reply!

Doh. I went back and checked the actual example. The answer is only the column:
    Preview Column:

    Preview Module:

    Hope that's meaningful.
