External drive won't unmount because QuickLookUIService is using it

Often I cannot unmount an external drive because Path Finder is using it. If I find the QuickLookUIService for Path Finder in Activity Monitor and kill that service, I can then eject the disk. It seems to be mostly when I have had a video file selected, even if I have deselected it before trying to eject.

    Hi John,

Please choose a .txt file, open Preview module preferences (gear button next to its header) and uncheck "Colorize syntax".

Also, it may be worth trying to restore defaults for View Settings (cmd+J).
Make sure to have "Calculate all sizes" unchecked here.

Please let me know if this makes a difference.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan,

That does appear to have sorted it out. I'll keep an eye on it over the
next few days and report if there is a recurrence of the problem.

    Thanks,
    John

Sorry to say, but the same problem just recurred. It is something that
happens when I've been watching some video from an external disk, I've
finished with the disk, but it won't eject because of the
    QuickLookService problem.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for reporting this issue.

We've already submitted it to our developers, sorry for the inconvenience. For now, the workaround remains to kill QuickLookUIService before unmounting volumes, sorry.

Make sure to let us know should any further questions arise.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan
