PathFinder 8 losing license key repeatedly

Running PathFinder 8.3.8 and Mac OS 10.14.2. PF keeps saying I am using the free trial and asking for a key when restarted. When the valid license key is entered, it says all fine, but then does this again.

Seems like this is an old (and annoying) bug.

    Hi,

Please follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Make sure that Path Finder is located in the Applications folder
(in case you are using macOS Mojave) Use System Preferences > Security & Privacy > grant Full Disk Access to Path Finder

    2. Open your terminal and paste the following command to check if Path Finder has been slapped with the quarantined extended attribute:
      xattr /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

    3. If you see com.apple.quarantine returned as output from that last command, then go ahead and run this next command:
      xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

You won't get any feedback or output from that command, but that's okay because you can just run the first command again to see for yourself if the com.apple.quarantine attribute shows up again. It shouldn't, and now Path Finder is freed from Apple quarantine jail. Restart your PathFinder now.

Don't hesitate to contact us should any questions arise.

    Best Regards,

Tried all that. Granted the full disk permission and that attribute had not been applied.

The problem still persists after a restart of Path Finder.

    cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

May I ask you to follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
      http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-and-compatibility/how-...
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site
    3. Launch Path Finder and move it to the Apps folder as the app suggests

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

The license appears to stick now, thanks.

It might be nice to provide an AppleScript or small application to perform all that cleanup. That is a lot of files.

    cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

The AppCleaner mentioned in the article is capable of doing that quickly.

Don't hesitate to contact us should any further questions arise.
