Display of text file contents disappeared with PF 8.3.7 (I think) and did not return with 8.3.8. PDF, JPG, ODT and other formats still display a partial page in the Preview Pane but not TXT files. Please bring it back. Selecting a TXT file and pressing the space bar pops up a preview using BBEdit (my default text editor) but I can't quickly scroll up and down a PF window watching the PF preview pane for the correct file.

    Hi Wally,

Would you like to follow the instructions below and check if the issue still persists?

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
      http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-and-compatibility/how-...
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site
    3. Launch Path Finder and move it to the Apps folder as the app suggests

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan...

I followed your instructions below, rebooting after deleting files, but
it did not change anything; the text file problem is still there.
However, there may be a difference between the PF6/7 instructions at
your link and PF8 - I tried to be careful and not miss anything but when
I reloaded the fresh PF8 my license key was automatically detected and
validated, so something was still in there.

I have noticed one other change that showed up at the same time the
preview went away - there is now a check box for text files in the
preview pane for "Enable editing" that I don't believe used to be
there.  Checking it does not enable the "Save" button next to it, does
not add "w" to Permissions and does nothing for my problem.  The problem
only seems to affect text files (at least that's all I have noticed so
far); other file formats seem to be ok.  I was unable to add this
response to my original post since the thread has been closed.

    Thanks anyway,
    Wally
