Toolbar "Accept dropped items" still busted?

It looks like the bug of not being able to drop items on the toolbar in Mac OS High Sierra and newer has been known for at least a couple of months.

Any idea of when it'll be fixed?

Is there any work-around, like editing the pref files?

    Hi,

We've already submitted this issue to our developers, sorry for the inconvenience.
Hopefully, it will be fixed soon but, unfortunately, I can't provide you with the exact timeline.
Same applies to workarounds, we don't recommend editing preferences files.

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,

    Hello again,

I think I found a work-around that you might want to let other users know about.

You can drop items on the PathFinder toolbar IF you're in list-view mode, but NOT if you're in column-view mode.

@ Stephen Pope I cannot get your method to work for me in PF 8.3.7. Whether I switch the view of a browser window to list, or I change the default browser to list in the preference, dropped items on the toolbar don't stick.

That's strange. I just tested it here (PF 8.3.7 on MacOSX 10.13.6) and it works, though I can't delete the test item I just added...

Do you have to press any other keys (command, option, …) when you drag a folder to the toolbar?

As for removing, when you choose "Customize Toolbar" (control+click on the toolbar), it looks like you ought to be able to remove items from it. I do have a few custom items n the toolbar since when that feature worked and they "jiggle" when you control+click, which makes me think they could be removed (but I don't want to try).

So it's almost March 2019 and we're up to PF8.3.9 and this problem still exists. The workaround suggest above (be in list view) does not work for me. Any idea when this will be fixed?

My solution is to install PF 7.6.2. I've had so many problems with PF 8 (crashes, GUI issues, taking up all of RAM) that I'm not planning to upgrade any time soon.

Stephen, as far as I know PF7 still does not accept dropped items under mojave. Isn't that correct?

I've reverted to PF version 7.6.2; reinstalling with its old .plist file. You are correct dropped folders into toolbar still won't work with Mojave - but at least I have recovered my previous toolbar folders.

I'm not holding my breath. Maybe things will iron out by PF 9.

I can't help you because I haven't updated to Mojave.
