Drag&Drop of Items in Favorites side bar land in the bad place

Hi,

I am having the same problem as in
https://support.cocoatech.com/discussions/problems/120532-droppedsi...

Path Finder 8.3.3, Mac OS 10.14.1

When I try to insert or reorder items in the Favorites Sidebar using drag & drop: it places the dragged item one, two or three position too high in the list.
E.g. when my items are (from top to bottom) A B C D, and I drag D between B and C, it jumps up between A and B.

The suggested solution in the above discussion - to completely remove all traces of Path Finder and reinstall, is no help to me - I have around 30 items in my Favorites, as well as many customizations - I don't want to recreate them all.

Rather fix this bug please!

    Hi Jordan,

today's update, 8.3.7, still has not fixed that issue. Do you have any idea on the roadmap for this bug?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Hi Jordan! Could you please escalate that issue?
I am an avid Path Finder fan and use it on all my Macs, but this bug is really getting on my nerves and keeps me from using Path Finder. I use Finder again more and more.

When I drop an item in the favorites bar, it pops up anywhere. Meanwhile it's already 6(!) items away from where I want it to be. No chance to put a new item anywhere in the lower 5 entries of my favorite bar. Practicably unusable right now.

    Thanks again!
    Eric

    Hi Eric,

Does this issue happen on all of you Macs? Including in a Guest profile?

Could you please check if a new Sidebar (added from Modules window) behaves any better?

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue and would appreciate if you can share any steps to do so. This will help to diagnose and fix it.

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

Yes, it happens on all my Macs.
Yet, it doesn't happen on a fresh installation of Path Finder, with only a few favorite sidebar items.

    None.

Yes, a new sidebar is fine.
It seems to get broken sometimes during the lifetime of a sidebar.

I would love to share some preferences files with you for debugging, but I don't even know where the sidebar data is stored in the filesystem.

Tell me what files you need.
We can also do a screen sharing session, or I can record a screen recording.

    Best,
    Eric
