"Show in Finder" from Dock not working

I'm still using Path Finder 7.6.2 since I had too much trouble with PF8. Since upgrading to High Sierra, the "Show in Finder" submenu item for applications in the Dock is no longer working. I have tried disabling "Set as the default file browser" but that doesn't make any difference. Even if I quit Path Finder altogether, "Show in Finder" doesn't work in Finder. Some preference seems to have been changed that's interfering with Finder's own operations. What can I do?

    Hi,

Please follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Make sure that Path Finder is located in the Applications folder
(in case you are using macOS Mojave) Use System Preferences > Security & Privacy > grant Full Disk Access to Path Finder

    2. Open your terminal and paste the following command to check if Path Finder has been slapped with the quarantined extended attribute:
      xattr /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

    3. If you see com.apple.quarantine returned as output from that last command, then go ahead and run this next command:
      xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

You won't get any feedback or output from that command, but that's okay because you can just run the first command again to see for yourself if the com.apple.quarantine attribute shows up again. It shouldn't, and now Path Finder is freed from Apple quarantine jail. Restart your PathFinder now.

Don't hesitate to contact us should any questions arise.

I'm reopening this discussion because "Show in Finder" has stopped working again. I ran the xattr utility in Finder and found that com.apple.quarantine was returned. So I ran the xattr utility with the -d flag but that hasn't gotten "Show in Finder" to work from the Dock, even after killing and restarting the Dock.

    Hi,

Is Path Finder set to be your default browser in preferences?
Have you tried changing this option?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Yes, I've tried changing that setting. It has no effect.

    Hi,

May I ask you to follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
      http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-and-compatibility/how-...
(The AppCleaner option is highly recommended)
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site
    3. Launch Path Finder and move it to the Apps folder as the app suggests

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,

I changed the relevant preferences in Path Finder, quit, and deleted all the relevant files from /Library and ~/Library. I left the application alone, however, since I want to stick with 7.6.2 for now and saw no reason to think there was anything wrong with the application itself. Then I rebooted, launched Path Finder, entered my license info, and everything now seems to be working properly. Problem solved.
