Installing/Uninstalling PF8 breaks PF7

I installed PF8 and found some serious issues (discussed elsewhere), so I uninstalled and went back to PF7. However, PF7 no longer worked; no files were visible when I chose View as List (which is my default). View as icon or column worked fine, but not view as list. The panel was just blank. So PF7 was literally useless to me.

Thanking my lucky stars that I had a time machine backup and could restore my Application Support/Pathfinder folder, which got things working again.

How does something like this happen?

Most of the time PF7 will work fine, but if you made some certain changes in settings, it may just hang after launch, not showing any window.
If you want to go back using PF7, you may need to delete folder "~/Library/Application Support/Path Finder/Settings/Data Store", where "~" is your home folder.
After that PF7 will work fine.

We also recommend disabling the automatic update checker in Path Finder > Preferences > General.

Be sure to let us know should any further questions arise.
