Preview cannot handle Swedish characters

This is apparently not a PathFinder bug, but an OS X bug. The backup script now also fails on the "ö" character when doing an rsync. It has worked before, so this is something that must have happened in the latest upgrade of OS X which I installed yesterday.

I cannot make preview show Swedish characters (åäö) correctly. I get some asian language symbol instead. It does not matter what encoding I'm setting in the preview preferences. Normally MacRoman works fine for Swedish characters, but neither that nor the "Nordic" alternatives work. I get the same asian sign. I had no such problems in the previous versions. I can't ever remember having character encoding problems on a Mac before. I do have Swedish as language in system preferences, so PathFinder should choose appropriate encodings automatically after that setting. It always did before.

This image show the previewed file opened in Textastic.

I also changed PathFinder encoding to UTF-8 since Textastic showed the file to be UTF-8, but no difference. Still the asian character.

Screenshot of Textastic with MacRoman. Still correct. UFT-8 and MacRoman overlap for the 3 Swedish characters.

But PathFinder gets it wrong no matter what character set I choose. It looks like the first screenshot no matter what I do.
