Discrete Graphics Card Usage on 2010 Macbook Pro

There is a known issue on 2010 Macbook Pro models where Path Finder is forced to use the discrete GPU. However, this issue is not specific to Path Finder, as using an application like gfxCardStatus will also show other applications that would normally use the integrated GPU, using the discrete card on 2010 MBP models.

We've spent countless hours trying to find a fix for this issue, but it's basically impossible, and the issue lies somewhere in the design of these MBP's, and the line of discrete GPU hardware installed on these machines. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like an issue we can fix in anytime soon, and appears on all OSX versions that are compatible with this line of machines.
