PF not working well

I have been having problems with PathFinder for several months. It is common for it to show a message saying that it encountered a problem (see attached image). Several features have not been working correctly. Right now my sidebar is empty and when I try to get it back or create a new one I get the same message. Another problem is that I have been unable to eject any device that I connect to my iMac.

My version 7.6.2 (1729) and my system is Mac OS X 10.12.6 (Build 16G1314) i386.

Should I reinstall Path Finder? Please tell me what to do.

    Hi,

Please follow this instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Open your terminal and paste the following command to check if Path Finder has been slapped with the quarantined extended attribute:
      xattr /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

    2. If you see com.apple.quarantine returned as output from that last command, then go ahead and run this next command:
      xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

You won't get any feedback or output from that command, but that's okay because you can just run the first command again to see for yourself if the com.apple.quarantine attribute shows up again. It shouldn't, and now Path Finder is freed from Apple quarantine jail. Restart your PathFinder now.

In case that doesn't help, I'd suggest completely reinstalling PathFinder:

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
      http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-and-compatibility/how-...
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site
    3. Copy zipped app to the Applications folder
    4. Unzip it into the Apps folder and launch

Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

I followed all your suggestions. PathFinder was quarantined but releasing it did not bring the sidebar back, nor did reinstalling.

Thus I have followed all suggestions from support and the program is still not working. Should I give it up?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, this is a known issue with Sierra.
May I suggest waiting for the further update of PathFinder?

We are currently beta-testing the new version.
It's re-written from a scratch and much more stable in many ways.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience.

Ok. But I have been running it with Sierra since August 2017 and the problem only surfaced two days ago. How come it worked fine all this time?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

I'm not sure about the origin of this issue at the moment.
But this issue started happening not so long ago among our Sierra users.

What about High Sierra? Are there any complaints about compatibility with it? Is PF working well with it?

    Hi,

There are, unfortunately, some minor issues. This particular issue is limited to Sierra though.
But as I mentioned earlier, we are putting finishing touches to the new version, PathFinder 8.
It's way more stable in many ways, as our testers say.

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

This is great news! I look forward to Path Finder 8. Right now I am making do with Finder and Forklift but there is nothing comparable to Path Finder. I am so used to it that I feel as if I had broken an arm.
    Best regards.
