Expand triangle to left of folder icon sometimes not present

Problem is that the expand triangle icon sometimes does not appear. I know from the thread below that I can go into View --> Arrange By --> None, but that fixes it just for that one view. If I go into another folder later, it has some different "Arrange By" setting, and I have to change it back to "None" to get the triangles back. Gets annoying, unproductive.

Is there some setting I can make to show the expand triangle icon for all folders? I used to be fine, then I must've accidentally changed some setting (or due to upgrade of Path Finder) that caused the expand triangle icons to no longer show all the time.

Thank you.

    Hi AN,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Before choosing the "Arrange by none" option in the View Options (cmd+J) please make sure to switch "This window only" to "All windows" on the upper left side of this window.

Please feel free to write us back and we will be happy to assist you.

    Jordan,

Thanks for your reply. I can't seem to find where the "All windows" is. If it's a menu item, can you tell me which menu it's under? If it's on the window itself, is it possible to tell me what it icon looks like or show a screenshot? I'm on version 7.6.2 (1729).

    Thanks!

Thank you Jorden for the screenshot. However, I can't see that screen. I am on v7.6.2 (1729) and the only way I can see to change the "Arrange by" settings is to go to the View menu from the menu bar at the top, and select "Arrange by"... Is there some other place I click on to get that window you showed?

Thank you again Jordan. It seems to not be applying to all folders. The switch is a bit confusing actually. When the switch is on the left, the pop-up says "Click for "This window only" mode", which would mean that it's already set for "All windows" mode. However, the diagram you provided showed the switch on the right.

So which way is the switch supposed to be (left or right) for it to apply to all windows? Is it possible to talk over the phone? This is something that'll take just a minute over the phone but take a lot longer over a forum.

    Hi,

"All windows" is to the left.  Sorry for the confusion, we will make sure to fix this in our further cycles.

Will it apply changes this way?
