Have the bottom panes set so one is info, one is preview. Select a file that has text in it. Scroll down in that preview pane. Pane jumps back up to the top.

How did a bug this big go unnoticed? Please fix.

Update: this appears to happen with only certain types of files. .PHP files and .py files trigger it.

    Hi Justin,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I may be missing some of your comments since you seem to have posted them to different discussions.
In addition to that, some of them, unfortunately, were taken down by a spam filter for some reason.
    Sorry for that inconvenience.

May I kindly ask you to reinstall the application according to the instruction and let me know if it resolves the issue.
It's important to clean up all the saved preferences of your PathFinder during this process.

To re-install Path Finder 7, first make sure to backup your license information, so you have it ready after finishing this process. Next, follow the uninstall process listed in this Knowledge Base article: http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-compatibility-and-perf...

Once it is done, copy zipped app to the Applications folder, unzip it into the Apps folder and launch.

If this does not resolve the issue, we will pass on your description of the issue to the developer.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hi Justin,

Could you please send us a sample (a snapshot) of Path Finder process in a separate file?
This will enable us to analyze what happens with the application.

    Here's how to get it:
    1. Open Path Finder and reproduce the problem.
    2. Open Activity Monitor from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
    3. Select Path Finder in the process list. To help making a selection, type "Path Finder" in the Filter field.
    4. Click the Sample Process button in the toolbar - this will open a new window entitled "Sample of Path Finder" and a sample of the process is collected.
    5. Click Save and save the sample file.
    6. Close (Command-W) the Sample window opened in step 2.
    7. Send the sample file saved in step 5 to us.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,

Reinstallation is not the answer. I have the same issue ever since going to HS and using the PF beta. It happens with .docx files but not pdf files. I think I already mentioned it in another thread.

Dumb issues like these need to be sorted out post haste. Ridiculous.

Any updates on this? Has the developer been able to identify the issue?

    Hi Justin,

There's no comment from the developer, he's now busy working on other tasks. We're planning to release a new beta soon, hopefully, it'll sort this bug as well. If it won't help, we'll look into this bug after the new beta release.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue and I was trying with a lot of various files of various types. There's also nothing suspicious in the sample posted here. That part of code hasn't changed in years and it's just (in case of file types you've mentioned) a simple standard text view embedded in the standard scroll view.

If you can make a test file, or you've already got one (without any sensitive personal data) that always reveals incorrect behaviour, I'd be very thankful if you upload it here.

    Thanks.

Absolutely. Give me a few hours and I'll upload a sample.

Here's what I've found so far:

I can reliably reproduce this if:

I have a .html file in the folder.

I have three files in the folder. One HTML, two .PYs. The .PY files are identical. One is named blah, one is named blah2. the html file is named a.html

In that scenario, I can reproduce it all the time. The first .py file will let me scroll, the second jumps back to the top.

I'm censoring out personal info from these files and will be uploading a zip of them shortly.

I wasn't able to reproduce the issue even when using the files you provided. Anyway, I did some minor changes to scroll view handling in the preview, so it may be possible it fixes the issue. I can't confirm it, as I can't reproduce it in the first place.

The fix is available in the new version 7.6.1 (1726). You can get it here, of you can update your current copy with Check for Updates… menu item.

Let me know it this version fixes the scrolling issue. Thanks.

It's still happening. No idea why you can't reproduce it.
