Had 7, upgraded, downgraded, now...NFG

Hi: I've had Pathfinder for years; was running 7.x and upgraded to 8 during the trial. I hated it. Couldn't downgrade back to 7--the application wouldn't work properly. Tried downloading 8 again, willing to pay for upgrade...but program will not open. Spawns a window titled "Purchase" that runs long and thin below my screen...then program hangs.

Basically: I can't move forward or backward with Pathfinder; I need help.

    Use a utility like Clean My Mac X to remove all vestiges of the malware known as PF8. Then PF7 will work just fine.

    Hi Chris, 

    Thanks for reporting the issue of being unable to proceed past the purchase window. 

    We've already submitted it to our developers, sorry for the inconvenience. 
    It's known by now that it happens to our users on High Sierra. 
    Hopefully, the fix will be available soon. 

    Should we send you the instructions on downgrading to PF7?

    Hi Chris, 

    Here's the link to PathFinder 7: https://get.cocoatech.com/PF7.zip

    Most of the time PF7 will work fine, but if you made some certain changes in settings, it may just hang after launch, not showing any window.
    If you want to go back using PF7, you may need to delete folder "~/Library/Application Support/Path Finder/Settings/Data Store", where "~" is your home folder.
    After that PF7 will work fine. 

    We also recommend disabling the automatic update checker in Path Finder > Preferences > General.
