PF8 high cpu usage

My PF8 shows up as the highest % CPU user on my iMac. Consistently sits at 100% while in dock. What's going on?

And, I have the same dark mode complaint as everyone else, but that seems minor compared to the CPU load.

Very disappointing -- I've been using PF since 2012. This was an update that clearly wasn't ready for prime time.

    Hi Oliver,

Please choose a .txt file, open Preview module preferences (gear button next to its header) and uncheck "Colorize syntax".

Also, it may be worth trying to restore defaults for View Settings (cmd+J).
Make sure to have "Calculate all sizes" unchecked here.

Regarding the dark mode, we are into the final stage of betas now, shouldn't take much more time.

    Best Regards,

    Jordan,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Before getting it, I had found a post in
    https://support.cocoatech.com/discussions/problems/118544-dark-mode-makes-app-illegible-module-window
that gave a terminal command to run:

Folks there was another poster in these forums that shared this command:

    defaults write com.cocoatech.PathFinder NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance
    -bool yes

you type that in terminal then start PF, worked great for me and fixes the
faux pa that PF did with dark mode.
I ran it and not only did itt make the screen in PF8 readable again, but it
seemed to eliminate the 100% cpu issue.

I followed your suggestion in any case, and as of the moment, I can read
everything in the PF8 screen and it is not eating excess cpu cycles.
Activity Monitor shows 0% when PF8 is not in focus, and jumps only to
    around 2% when given focus.

Good luck in getting this PF8 upgrade working up to previous Pathfinder
    quality level.
