Question: Can I differnecitate the colors of the split screen even more to identify what window is active?

I like the split screen view, but I often can't visually and quickly identify what pane is active. Is there a way to obviously color the active vs. inactive pane?

A screenshot is what I'm referring to, but a designer's touch would make the UX much better.

    You can specify custom colours in your preferences. I change the "gradients" to be both the same colour, so it looks flat, rather than shaded.

    Here are the settings areas and what mine looks like. There are still other issues, but the general look is okay.
