Hello,

The last times I tried to update from within the program I always receive
an error message with the text in the image annexed to this message. This
doesn’t happen with other programs I have. I have to download the full
program from your website and then install that one over the existing one.

Also, when I select “Cocoatech Support” from the Help menu, Safari displays
the “This Connection Is Not Private” page instead of opening your support
page.

Best regards,

Cristiano Richers

    Hi Cristiano,

Please follow the instruction and check if the issue still persists:

    1. Open your terminal and paste the following command to check if Path Finder has been slapped with the quarantined extended attribute:
      xattr /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

    2. If you see com.apple.quarantine returned as output from that last command, then go ahead and run this next command:
      xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/"Path Finder.app"

You won't get any feedback or output from that command, but that's okay because you can just run the first command again to see for yourself if the com.apple.quarantine attribute shows up again. It shouldn't, and now Path Finder is freed from Apple quarantine jail. Restart your PathFinder now.

Don't hesitate to contact us should any questions arise.

    Best Regards,
    Jordan

    Hello Jordan,

I followed your instructions. According to that, Path Finder was
    quarantined. Why does this happen?

    Can it happen again?

Let’s see what happens on the next update.

Thank you for the help, best regards,

    Cristiano Richers

    Hi Cristiano,

PathFinder is properly structured and properly code-signed with valid Developer ID signature.
But sometimes macOS fails to recognize PathFinder as a proper app and doesn't trust it.

Don't hesitate to contact us should any questions arise.

    Hello Jordan,

I still get the same error message when trying to update Path Finder from
    within the program itself.

I ran the quarantine check and didn’t get any text as reply, so I assume PF
    isn’t quarantined this time.

Why is this error still coming up?

    Best regards,

    Cristiano Richers

    Hi,

May I ask you to follow the instruction and upgrade manually:

    1. Delete Path Finder and its traces according to the article:
      http://support.cocoatech.com/kb/installation-and-compatibility/how-...
    2. Download the latest version of the app from our site
    3. Copy zipped app to the Applications folder
    4. Unzip it into the Apps folder and launch

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,
