Glad I was able to revert back to Pathfinder 7, 8 is a huge step backward. If you need to do so, here's the link and instructions

If anyone else really misses the ability to drag your most used folders to the sidebar, as was done in Pathfinder 7 but doesn't work in Pathfinder 8, you can downgrade. Here's the link to PathFinder 7 should you decide to downgrade: https://get.cocoatech.com/PF7.zip

Per Cocoatech: Most of the time PF7 will work fine, but if you made some certain changes in settings, it may just hang after launch, not showing any window.
If you want to go back using PF7, you may need to delete folder "~/Library/Application Support/Path Finder/Settings/Data Store", where "~" is your home folder.
After that PF7 will work fine.
We also recommend disabling the automatic update checker in Path Finder > Preferences > General.

    WARNING

PathFinder 7 is NOT compatible with MacOS 10.3.5

I was very disappointed that PathFinder 7 repeatedly crashes as soon as it opens a window after I updated from MacOS 10.3.4 to 10.3.5.

I hope but don't know if Cocoatech will fix this.

    Here is the error message:

+100 for this v7 support for 10.3.5... v8 is still on BETA for me, v7 worked very well.

Are you going to fix this please?

Thanks for the warning - I'll hold off the OS upgrade till we hear from Cocoatech but wouldn't be surprised if the answer is 'upgrade to PF8 as we're not supporting PF7 any more'...

    10."3".5 or 10."13".5?

Pretty big difference between an update from 2004 and the one released today.

PathFinder 7 now works with Mac OS 10.3.5

What you have to do is delete folder "~/Library/Application Support/Path Finder/Settings/Data Store", where "~" is your home folder.

I downloaded PF7 as per Steve, renamed PF8, but 7 does not work. My problem, as posted is that PF8 does not work well with SECURE DELETE, and I use that a lot.

Also had to downgrade to PF7. The broken open terminal window in a folder and the llack of ability to have volume shortcuts in the favorites was a serious pain.

    Secure delete also needed.

CocoaTech, please fix PF8 with an update to address these issues and do some more testing prior to release. Already paid for the PF8 upgrade ...

I, too, sadly downgraded back to version 7. I look forward to upgrading when they restore the features left behind and make it into a fuller upgrade. I will always support Pathfinder and keep up to date with it. I'm just holding off right now.

I downloaded App Cleaner for free from the App store, and it was a lot easier to find the files needed to delete from Pathfinder 8. Here's a screen shot of what the results look like when searching for Pathfinder now (although 8 has already been removed), in case it helps anyone.

I agree. DO NOT UPGRADE TO 8. 8 is lacking some core features.

    1) Ability to delete items from the sidebar.
    2) Right-click to CD to current folder in terminal.

The new module system is frustrating. Extra steps to get anything done.

    I'll be downgrading.

Oh, and the big problem with 7 where the dock icon would turn into a ? when rebooting... not fixed.

I also downgraded to PF7. I was going to pay for PF8 upgrade licence but wanted to pay by PayPal. Asked support for this type of payment option, but got no reply from them. That's what I call bad support.

PayPal isn't a good payment option for many businesses. In fact, it can be a nightmare. PayPal can hold your money hostage for several months for no good reason even if you have to use the money to pay for delivery of the product.

Yes, they are the 800 pound gorilla in online payments. But the trouble it brings makes it worthwhile to use alternatives if possible. EBay doesn't even promote PayPal any longer. Stripe is much better. So if Cocoatech doesn't support PayPal, you have your answer why.

I was getting tired of the PF 8 upgrade notices and finally turned them off.

I don't mind spending $20 for an upgrade that has new features I'll actually use, but I didn't see anything in the PF 8 new feature list that would be beneficial for me.
